On a very snowy Sunday afternoon just before Christmas I went for Champagne Afternoon Tea at Prestonfield House Hotel with six gorgeous girlfriends.
What an afternoon it was! Oooh super-fabulous doesn’t really cover it.

Arriving in full snow-gear
Prestonfield was very busy so we were in Rhubarb (the restaurant) rather than the Tapestry Room but it was wonderful there too.

Cheers!
When the cakes and sandwiches arrived there was much excitement.

Mmmmn
My heart was racing at the prospect. Look at the beauty of these cakes. I bet your mouth is watering. They were scrumptious, fruity and squashy and lovely and oh SO good.

The close-up. Oh it was SO good!
Just in case you want a little more.

More eye candy
The ladies toilets also require some attention. You see at Prestonfield the ladies toilets are exactly as ladies toilets should be. That is to say, padded and pink and floral with the essential chaise longue.

Perhaps Powder Room would better suit

How Ladies Toilets should be
I enjoyed it immensely and will certainly go back. Afternoon tea at Prestonfield is perfect for girlie get togethers of all kinds. The staff at Prestonfield are wonderful.
And I haven’t let the fact that the taxi driver (ordered by the Hotel for us) charged us £10 before we even got in the cab, dim the experience.
Afternoon Tea at The Prestonfield costs £16.95 which I think is excellent value. The Champagne Afternoon Tea is £25.95 and includes one glass of champagne. When I go next I’ll order the ordinary Afternoon Tea and buy bottles of champagne as that suits better if one is drinking more than one glass of champagne. Obviously not something I would do…
I look forward to going back in the Summer and enjoying an indulgent afternoon tea in the Rose Garden or on the terrace. Here’s hoping we get a Summer worthy of the name!

I am so jealous. It looks fabulous. Ultimate girly experience.
Hello Maj-Britt, when you’re next in Edinburgh we’ll have to go there. You will come back ocassionally won’t you?
Yes, I have found their afternoon teas better than any other I’ve tasted in the city. I’ve been in the yellow room a couple of times, and in the leather room once for a girlie birthday celebration. Don’t think I’ve ever been in summer, though.
We’ll go in Summer Fenella. I don’t need much persuading to go back

We went too – you’re right, it’s fabulous. Also agree about the value when you consider you could pay £12 or so in Mimis etc
