What do you want to do more of in 2011?

Happy New Year!

I wish you all the best for a delicious and exciting 2011.

Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve for the uninitiated) was a fantastic night. We organise the Sunday Brunch Club Grand Hogmanay Ball at The Sheraton Hotel in Edinburgh. We had a ball!

New Year’s Resolutions are often about giving things up. But where’s the fun in that?!
This year my plan is to do more of the things I enjoy…

Cycling – I’ve signed up for lots of events including the Etape Caledonia – 81 hilly miles in Perthshire against the clock. I’ll need to ramp up my fitness for this one! And I’ll need to trade in my beloved hybrid bike (more mountain bike than road bike) for a go-faster touring bike.

Last year I had a great time cycling with Sunday Brunch Club pictures here as well as at cycle events such as the 68 mile Edinburgh to St Andrews ride and the Pedal for Scotland 100 mile Sportive.

I just love the feeling of being out on my bike in the countryside. And it’s the best way to get around the city too.

Dancing – I dance salsa and modern jive but haven’t been dancing regularly of late. This is something I want to remedy this year. In the photo below I’m dancing with Cee Jay who is an amazing dancer. He runs dancing workshops which I love. If you’re a dancer too you can find out more about Mariachi on facebook.

Dining out - The challenge here will be to go to all the restaurants on my ‘to do’ list rather than tried and tested haunts I adore. And of course I’ll be blogging all my finds. Among the many restaurants on my hitlist for 2011 are:

  • The Glasshouse
  • Ondine
  • The Kitchin
  • The Plumed Horse
  • Martin Wishart (as it’s been so many years since I last went)
